Not many communities are lucky enough to have a local magazine dedicated to informing and celebrating the events, activities and functions that go on year to year. Very, very few are fortunate enough to have a local magazine of the quality of the Old City Life. Not only does it showcase restaurants, retail, establishments, attractions and sites of interest, there is nothing more fun than seeing your picture in the magazine as you attend one of the local events (unfortunately, the camera seems to add 20 lbs to my face, but everybody else looks darn good). Let's be honest everyone, the first thing you do when you get Old City Life is look for your picture. But for me, there is nothing more fun than to see Old City Life owner and publisher, Yvette Monell, come breeze in to an event and start snapping pictures of everyone having a great time. Thanks Yvette for what you do for our community showcasing us all and putting us in the best light.

Dear Yvette I want to personally thank you for the wonderful “Orchids for Hospice” event. It was lovely, and we are so grateful for the funds you raised through the event and awareness of the Bailey Family Center campaign — both through the article and the event. I enjoyed meeting you and look forward to future projects! Thank you so much for your kindness and commitment.

Dear Yvette, On behalf of the Board of Directors, our membership and the local community of art enthusiasts, I want to express our sincere gratitude to you for featuring Jean Wagner Troemel on the February 2010 cover of Old City Life Magazine. The Patron’s Benefit and month-long exhibit have been a resounding success, raising thousands of dollars for our youth art programs and art access initiatives for children with special needs. We appreciate your partnership in this endeavor and are especially grateful for the kindness and support you showed Jean, moving paintings and providing us with all the “cover girl” magazines to make available to our visitors. Jean has been on “Cloud 9,” thanks in large part to you! For the love of art and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!

I have been receiving and following your magazine “Old City Life” and I am writing to tell you what a great publication I think it is. It is a very refreshing approach to covering life in our great county and it is produced with extreme taste and artistry. Both my wife and I truly enjoy reading it and look forward to the arrival of future editions. In this time of strife and difficulty, it is nice to know that a media outlet is still interested and focused on positive stories. I wish you continued success with the publication.

Dear Yvette and Michael, It’s been one week since the highly successful Orchids For Hospice event took place. I’ve been thinking of all the incredible work that you both did to help put this event together and have been truly humbled by and very grateful for all of it. It is truly the start of a new trend, how fantastic that would be — for it was a beautiful occasion and a phenomenal cause has been helped. Thank you for your willingness to put the whole thing together with the PR and “buzz” it generated you can truly be proud. May God continue to bless you both in the works that you do focusing on the charity and goodness of the people in St Augustine. All who meet you are impressed and blessed by your work. What seemingly is easily accomplished and “put together” by you in this regard is just short of miraculous. I know why and so do you. May the Peace of Christ be with you both now and in the future.
